Default One of my fishing holes is in danger !

Our Town pond used to be a bluegill paradise for me .
The town maintenance guys lowered the level a couple of years ago rather than doing repairs to the dam .
The pond at the lower water level , even with the aerator became overgrown with algae . The water looked bad even in the winter months .
Now there’s something else going on .
I was fishing up there last year and witnessed a guy steal a come along the maintenance guys had “Jerririgged” the valve on drain . I told one of the walkers up there about it who knew the head recreation guy , who said he would report it .
I guess whatever the come along was holding in place , let go this week and the pond is draining rapidly.
    It’s a shame .
This is a photo one of the regular walkers took today and posted on the local Facebook page.

It’s a shallow pond and I’m sure with the heat we’ve been having , it won’t be long before the fish will start to die off .
Several residents are trying to get officials outside of the town involved according to what I’ve read on Facebook.
They’re some nine ,old bluegill and shellcracker in that pond .
My biggest gill was 9 3/4” and I’ve caught shellcracker over eleven inches.
Even if they get it stopped, unless we get rain , it’s not going do much good .

Sorry to hear all this. You just gotta wonder why no one in a position of authority is paying attention. Hope there’s a fix for it soon.

we "had" a great pond like that a few years ago , full of bluegill, bass and other sunfish too ....
it ran VERY low several times and what once was a nice spot turned into a struggle to even get a bite ....
then this year they drained it dry and I have avoided looking in the direction at all when I drive by to keep myself from getting flat out mad as heck .....it was super duper place to take lil kids with a really cool playground ...
google monster robot park in Benbrook and check out the giant slide and big wooden castle ....
the things people decide to do to "improve" things are just ding dong sometimes I swear ....
