    Default Weekend trips

Fished both days this weekend. Saturday I did some bass fishing and caught three before it got to hot using a black plastic worm. Sunday was a sunfish day and they were very willing to bite some of my little ties. Caught a few small channels there as well, got stuck by the first one, still hurts. Very colorful at this small lake. Gave away some of my little jigs to a couple fishing with their kids. They were using corn and catching gills.

Those little 12" channel cats never stopped flopping, hard to grab them moving targets. Wouldn't be fishing if you didn't get stuck occasionally. This little lake is catch and release only but could use some thinning out or some bigger predators like bass to help keep numbers down. Haven't seen a bass there in three trips. Great lake to get the little ones started, guaranteed to catch something there.

Those colors are way different than I see most times, very pretty fish. Funny you should talk about chasing bass. I dragged out my Fenwick worm and jig rod and strapped the Curado to it. I paid too much for a chatterbait and tied it on the end. I haven’t targeted bass for a long time. Wonder if I’ll ever remember to pick up the rod when the gills are biting, kinda iffy. This river I fish has given me a bloody nose a lot when I go looking for green fish. Getting them as bycatch is how I get most of em. The ones in your pics would make me happy.

I have never understood municipalities that have catch and release only ponds, all they do is guarantee a pond full small fish. My city is trying to do the same thing even after biologists and the twra tried to explain to the gentleman managing the project but he would not have it, he honestly believes he is going to have pond full of huge fish.

Rant off lol. Those are some good looking fish, and I always love the opportunity to give away some tackle to children new to fishing. You're a good man for doing that.
