Finally had a forecast with the heat index below 200!! I have been meaning to do a ride around with side-scan to look for structure on Louie. This seemed like just the day for that.
Started around 9 am at Bayou Louie Rocks Landing. Went upstream and downstream. Found fish and structure everywhere. Caught fish on most places. 2/3 of the fish were small, but still plenty of decent sized fish, and a few (maybe 6) over 10”.
Caught all on a 1/16 oz silver jig with white marabou and red flash tail.
The downside of the trip was finding this sign, from the DOQ, saying that they had found mercury levels in fish from Louie.
I guess I need to investigate and see where I might find some less “mercuric” fish.
The good news is that there is no shortage of places to fish around here. I just have to see where they might be safe to eat!!
shadow thanked you for this post
Not sure I’d eat any of them if there was a note like that.I would find some cleaner fish somewhere else.
, eat mushrooms they are non mercuric

All feesh have mercury.
If you're concerned eat the smaller feesh which have less mercury. Or just a serving 2 or 3 times a month
