Glad you heard from LedHed and had a good conversation and that he is doing well. Hate to hear about your boxer Toby. Hang in there and be strong. Prayers sent.

I hadn't heard from him in awhile and called him earlier this week. He called me last night and we talked for over an hour. He is doing ok, hasn't fished in a couple of years but he's thinking of getting back out there. I hope so. I really miss those pics of the giant gills that he was catching at Perris. This morning I went back 100 pages here and there is some of his pics. Sure brings back some great memories. I've been really down the past few days. Going to put my Boxer Toby down today and have been breaking down frequently. His call sure came at the right time and gave be a huge pick me up.

the dog bro , give him or her some sleeping pills . enough that he or she don't wake up ....
don't go to the vet , that crap will make you cry and sad the rest of your life .....
holding one that dies that way is JUST WRONG !
I did it one time and it was the most terribly heart wrenching episode of my life ...
that they don't feel anything crap is just that !
your doggy sleeping in your arms as they give it the second shot to stop it's heart
and it starts convulsing and jerking around in your arms and slowly dies is WAY WRONG !

Ketchn, that has NOT been my experience having put both a cat and a dog to rest. Both were just as peaceful as can be and I felt it was the best for them in the end. I've never heard of anyone who described what you have at the end I can't help but wonder if maybe your vet screwed up somehow.
JJJ, my heart goes out to you for you've got to do today and offer you and your family my condolences. We love them so much and it hurts hard when we have to what's best for them. Rainbow Bridge, friend, you will meet them again.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through with you boxer. We have had to make this decision before and are getting near it with our current couch guardian. It can be heart breaking. I have had it go both ways, peacefully and unfortunately with a great deal of trauma like Ketchen describes. He is onto something with the sleeping pills, but it can be tough to get pills or any meds for that matter, down. There are home Euthanasia Vets that will come to you. We have never used them but will if we have to go that route again. The folks that told us about it said it was very peaceful and much easier on their loved one. Again, I am so very sorry.

Sorry to hear about Tobey, Jim. My grandson was with his dog when it was correctly euthanized today. His words, "It was peaceful and painless Papa." Hold on to those memories.
Sorry about your dog, we all know that it is hard.
Good to hear about Sonny. thank you

Thanks for letting us know that Ledhed is doing well. Anyone that knew him when he was active here misses him and his posts.
So sorry to hear about Toby. We lost Emma a few weeks back after 15 years. She died at my wife’s feet, it was and still is hard on us both. What I can tell you for sure is that you’ll always miss him but you’ll deal with it better in a while. I’m thinking of you Jim.
