But instead it was kinda not so good ....
not sure why , lots a fresh rain before I got there in the wee am hours
water clarity was good , pond was full , bream all over the place
but the larger fish were not very interested in playing ....
did ketch a bunch ,but they were all smalls ....
best part was the surface versions by the dock ...
a group of them around a dozen strong wanting to take "bugs" off the surface by the dock , duped a few with a bumble bee twitch I learned as a fly guy back when for trout ....
just hold the fly or small jig vertically right on the surface and make it send them rings out like a bee or small flying insect struggling on the water .....fish will smash it if they are after topwater insects .....just saying.....
AND got me a chigger bite on my ankle to boot .....darnit .....
p.s. yes I was using that beat down jungle jim jig that only has a bit of red thread left on it .....![]()

Yow! Those chigger bites hurt! I’m heading out shortly - we have had some cleansing rain and it is nice and cool this AM. they’re going to be hungry!

it is big fun bro , used to do it way back when with a bumble bee imitation under a bridge where there were some wasps nests
and with a long fly rod you can keep yourself way from them stingers
BIG rainbows will just SMASH a bumble bee jig dancing on the surface under a wasp nest .....not kidding![]()

Still some life left in that one, must be the glow eye left on the jig. You're surface technique reminds me of a trout fishing trip several years ago. While fishing a riffle area that dropped into a deep hole where you couldn't see anything below the surface. I left my jig dangling a few feet below the rod tip and was letting it bounce on the surface of the riffle. Trout came up and ate it. Dropped it in again and caught another. Ended up catching six in about ten minutes before action stopped. Crazy fish !!!
it only has that one eye left on it , its a pirate jig now bro .....jus saying![]()

Very cool. Love the animated gif.
Never tried that but I will now. Good that you got a few anyways.
