    Default Unexpected catch

I went out with my Shimano Soare rods with Stella reels in search of redear that has been eluding me most of the year. Just spooled the 1000 with 2# Izorline line and tied on a 1/32 duck feather special with a tiny #10 hook. Water was murky from rent rains. First cast and float dips under, set hook and drag starts screaming. First thought big bass but it didn't jump. Headed for the deeper brush and I couldn't stop it. I t wrapped me up and thought it was over. Couldn't feel the fish anymore. Opened the bail hoping it would swim out of the brush and after 15-20 seconds it did. Finally worked it close and seen it was a big catfish. No net so decided to lip it like a bass. It worked though it bit down on my thumb and shook it's head giving me a boo boo on my hand. Biggest cat caught on my ultralight. Probably in the 8-10# range. Took pics and let it go. Found some bluegills, hybrid gills and redear shallow and had a blast, almost every cast. Actually sat down on a flat rock for about an hour just catching one after another. Probably caught close to 100 in about 2.5 hours.

What a day and one fine cat. Yeah, that was a nasty bite.

Nice cat --- that's why I use 4# line for my bluegill fishing even though you used 2#.

Sorry about the boo-boo but that a heck of a whisker trout! Good catch and glad to hear of it, we all need some a dat!! You’ll heal soon and get back after em before they change their address. Basic Betty came home today so hopefully I’ll be back at it this weekend myself.
