    Default Best system to buy for crappie fishing?


    I have a Tracker TF 175 and when I purchased 3 yr ago I didn’t put anything up front. All I have is the lowrance finder at the wheel.

    I just wanted to get some input here concerning your top brands for up front.

    Garmin, Humminbird, Lowrance or whatever.

    Thanks for the help. I’m hoping to purchase during the bass pro sale going on right now. I will prob let them install.

    I have a Garmin 93sv/Livescope system for "finding" fish/cover ... and a Lowrance Hook 7 for Down Image, maps, GPS coords/waypoints (but rarely use the DI).

    I've gone from the old school b/w 2d units straight to the color DI units, then added Livescope a few years ago. All of those choice changes were made in accordance with changing from strictly casting jigs & minnow dunking, to casting & jig/crank Pushing, to casting & flippin' jigs with Livescope.

    That said, what methods you intend to use or add to your current methods may indicate what type of electronics would serve you best.

    If it's going up front I'd go with Garmin just in case later on you ever decide to get livescope.

    Yeah, but make sure whatever Garmin you get IS compatible with Livescope, as not all of them are.

    Also, all three major companies have their own version of Forward Facing Sonar (Garmin, Lowrance, & Humminbird).

    There are some pretty good deals on Lowrance HDS Lives out there. Which Lowrance unit do you have at the console?

    If not tournament I like sideview , throw a buoy on target and have at it . Not as fast as livescope but I do not eat many frozen fish except during the winter . Humingbird Helix 9 with a southeast chip gets my vote .
    Even Jesus had a fish story ! Actually five .

    Whichever one that you are comfortable with. I grew up on Humminbird but have not upgraded to MEGA yet; I already had the non-MEGA 360 but wanted FFS. I was about to upgrade to a MEGA Helix and get a MEGA Live, but Bass Pro Shops had a sale on a Garmin LVS32 with GLS10 (block box) kit and Echomap UHD 93sv that allowed me to get into Livescope and Garmin. Now, I still want Humminbird for 360 and can go either HB or Garmin for the console since I have flexibility using both. Lowrance has a good FFS system as well, which is why I say whatever you are comfortable with.
    If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

    What ever troller motor brand you like, I’d buy a unit that would link to it, for future use, motor-guide,ghost Lowrance, Minnkota HB, Garmin and Garmin.

    Poster there is no 1 Size Fits all. A lot of variables go into fishing. The Fishery the person is fishing. The Fishing style of the person fishing. The Fishing Equipment of the person fishing. The Fishing mentality to put in the work to use & learn the equipment/Fishery & level of devotion towards what they want to catch. Price Point.

    I'd say go to Fishing Electronics place, play with the interfaces to see which is more in line with your learning curve & use your own questioning & reasoning that fits you while asking knowledgeable people there to show you the differences. A Cabela's/Bass Pro Shop may not be in everyone's area but it would be the 1st choice, then maybe a Scheels or local Marine Outfitter.

    Garmin has the best Clarity with LiveScope. Lowrance has syncing capability with its other equipment & you have 1 at the Helm. However, 6 feet below with Active Target is not solid clarity. Humminbird has TARGET LOCK with it's Mega Live if you don't have nor are trying to get better with Boat Control, but the clarity isn't as distinctive as LiveScope but more clear than Active Target.

    As a side note Poster I will say this screaming it from the Mountain Top OVER & OVER. All the Forward Facing Technology Haters that think buying LiveScope, Active Target, or Humminbird Mega Live who aren't devoted to 100% learning the tech as well as already know how to fish WILL NAWT CATCH MORE FISH. It will be like you taking the Forward Facing Technology of your choice and putting it in your bathroom where you try to catch fish in your bathtub. If you don't know/learn the behavior of fish & where to find them how does it help? If you don't have a sense of feel to catch them by detecting the bite or knowing how to present the bait so they are intrigued to strike it, how does it help you? If you aren't devoted to learn the Tech, Style of Forward Facing Fishing, & fish behavior you are targeting, you Won't be catching more fish. You will be spending more funds & frustrated. The most productive people who catch fish with any Technology "ALREADY KNEW/KNOW how to fish, or are/were 100 devoted to put the time on the water/electronics/species to learn it. Best to you Sir. Don't fall for all the Hype that these SPONSORED PEOPLE ARE PUTTING OUT BECAUSE THEY ARE BEING PAID TO DO SO. Won't happen on my Crappie Dot Com Watch Crappie Brother. You will at least be able to say "Hey somebody tried to tell me, but I did as I chose to do".
