    Default Glue/plastic compatibility

I'm going to build/tie some jig/flies. I'd like to secure the plastic tails to the hook before tying the rest of the material down. Are certain glues better than others?

    I generally use superglue.

The superglue idea is good. My opinion is that it sticks better with a bit of foundation under it. Wrap the shank where the plastic will go with some thread or even dental floss and then glue it. My tiny jigs I use hold better when I do that.

I think Loctite super glue gel control works pretty well. It's what I use to hold the tails.

Thanks all. I had it in my head that maybe super glue would degrade the plastic. I will try it confidently now.

I have used the Loctite gel to hold the soft round tentacles from the toy balls and glued them on as tails. I'll upload the pic from my phone shortly...

Thanks Eric, that is perfect. I thought maybe super glue would be too harsh for the plastic. I will use it with confidence now. Your picture is extremely helpful.
