It doesn't answer your question but have you read the popcorn thread in the "cooking crappie" section yet?

I vote for forgetting the microwave stuff and doing it the more traditional ways.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

We like the Nature's Promise brand from Food Lion for healthy reasons. But as far as taste nothing beats real butter melted and poured over any brand of popcorn.

So to keep away from the salt and butter we have bought Orville Redenbackers “natural” corn. However we really like Orville’s Movie Theater butter corn. Member (rogoguio) has a thread on how he makes it located here. https://www.crappie.com/crappie/cook...eater-popcorn/. Lots of times we get a BIG bag at Rural King for about $3.00 it lasts a good while and is tasty. Can ya tell we like popcorn yet?

    Have fun deciding Bill.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give Orville a try first.

If you're looking to go a bit beyond the usual microwave popcorn for your wife, have you thought about trying a popcorn machine setup? It’s actually pretty fun and easy, and the taste is way different from the microwave stuff. For a special touch, you could check out sizzleyourevents.com—they offer rentals that bring a movie-theater vibe right to your space.
