First picture is a Clown Knife Fish. Pain in the rear to hook. Had three bite and get off before I hooked this one. Second is a Peacock bass. Lots of fun to catch. Ended up with a bloody thumb catching them. Their mouths are similar to LM, SM and crappie, but the don’t quit fighting when you lip them.

Also got my 87 year old MIL out in the boat to catch some Peacocks which she really enjoyed.

Congrats on a good trip. You missed a good time at Shindig.

I was hired a couple of years ago to mount a 35" Peacock Bass reproduction of one that was caught and released in Brazil. The guy had one back-lit photo for me to go on. I researched them deeply and found it is almost impossible to find any two that are the same. Very tough job that turned out great. Very interesting fish.

Every one is different. Caught with a lot more orange than normal. One with a bunch of spots, and one with bars.

Can’t imagine how a 35 inches would fight.
