    Default Much better.

Went to play today and took the Soare with me. Much better since being lubed and now I’m just waiting for the braid to soften some and the casting to improve like a couple of my others have. I fooled with some schooling fish, large ones, feeding on the passing Shad I think. Got my topwater smacked a few times but no takers. I’ll go back for those with a jerk bait. A few of them are extra large. The takes on the surface were massive, and stripers frequent here too. Not a job for the little tackle.

I didn’t get lots of fish today and didn’t fish my normal haunts, but I did get enough numbers to be happy and a few worth a pic. Mostly I learned that this area is best very early or during the week. Too many boats. I even ran back to my office and got a few but basically bombed, and I don’t know why. It was still good to get out and fool with my new to me addition to the boat; a small depth finder I picked up used. A Garmin striker 4, very basic but tells me some of what I need to know and fit the budget. Here’s the few pics I took , and I hope you enjoy them.

This first one is kinda shaped like a bluegill with a humped up head, and he tried to steal my rod too!

And this was the prettiest shellcracker I’ve seen in a while and also the smallest. He was just colored so nice.

And like the other one, this one had some large tabs on his gill plates. Very pretty fish and both were in the 7” neighborhood. Name: 410961DA-8E12-440D-9F1E-4CB57C666A9C.jpg

Beautiful colors on those Skeet ! Glad the little reel is acting better.
I can only handle fishing the pond on weekends, and it gets a little too crowded sometimes. Do take much to send me home.
