Spent a couple hours at the Town Pond this morning with my 6’ TFO T&P UL rod paired with my Shimano Miravel c2000s reel with 3# P-line Floroclear.
I thought the fishing was slow but I caught the same as I did yesterday.
Three small bass , a small bluegill, and a couple of Shellcrackers.
All on a 1g ball head jig and bison Trout Magnet .
Difference was it took me over two hours today .
As soon as I got home , I stripped off the 3# line and replaced it with 2# .
I find that once I experienced casting and fishing with 2# line , it’s hard to go back to heavier line .
The last half hour I swapped rods , to a 6’3” Abu Garcia Mass Beat 3 rod , just to see if the rod made any difference. None that could tell . Distance still wasn’t there and that’s with 1g jighead .
I included a pic of the visitor I had while I was sitting on my fishing stool just above him .
I know it’s only a banded water snake . A lot of folks that walk at the park think they’re copperheads .
The Moccasin should be tasty also

Beautiful fish! One of those rascals has taken up residence inside my heat pump.

Very pretty fish, I’d be happy with em. We have resident black snakes here that I refuse to bother. They keep everything the bad snakes eat in check so we don't see any of those. The devil you know to the devil you don’t is the way I look at it. They spook the wife and I now and then but they don’t rattle.

Nice fish. The brown banded snake doesn’t bother me none. Snakes are just about a year round occurrence here.
