Wilson below Wheeler
I'm wondering if anyone has caught crappie below Wheeler over on the north side between the dam and Blue Water Creek? Many years ago I remember my Dad and I catching nice crappie in that area. Havnt heard of anyone else crappie fishing there in years.

All I can tell you is I moved to the Shoals area almost 3 years ago, and I've had one day where I might have caught 15-20 keepers. Every other time I've gone has been a complete bust. I recently upgraded (or downgraded?) from my kayak to a bigger boat so I could get more places, but it hasn't helped. I'd love to know if anybody ever catches any over here.
I fished Wilson, a little farther downstream than you're talking about, for probably 5 hours yesterday will nothing to show for it, except a handful of small bass and some nice weather. I know there are crappie over here somewhere, but I've yet to find them. I admit I haven't gotten to fish a whole lot since we moved, but man, the times I have gone have been humbling. I'm thinking about heading over to wheeler soon just to see if I can regain a little dignity.

A few points about Wilson
The guys that fish there are tight lipped. I ain't judging them just saying
Every fish in that lake relates in 5 more fow than your used to
Focus on the docks
Bluewater Bay is having a bad couple years fish wise
The Bridge on Shoals Creek holds every fish known to Alabama except sharks
If your kayaking try the south side and focus on Steenum hollow.
And holler at me sometime Bigsig1101
