If you want to cheat and take up room on your deep spools, go to Staples and get some wide rubber bands and double them around the spool and wind your line on top of that. I'm not sure where I found that tip years ago but I tried it and it has worked fine for me

I got some of the EsterLine in a prize pack I won from one of the giveaways on here and it’s been some of the nicest line I’ve ever used. Very supple, casts well, and performed extremely well under load. I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Varivas. I currently use the Absolute MC fluorocarbon as a leader on my casting setup and it does great.

I have used leftover nylon line for backing and then put the lighter on top. Never had any problems.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect it to create any real problems. But for some idiotic reason I have always hated using a backing on my ultralight. Just a stupid hangup of mine.Originally Posted by BobC
I checked the capacity of the two reels I am going to use the Twitch Master on. The Pfleuger President is the one that might need more than a spool. It says it will take 110 yards of 4 lb. But this Twitch Master is supposedly a thinner diameter 4 lb. Maybe I will try the rubber band trick.

I'm the same way and hate using backing. That's why I was asking about the spool sizes. I hate the larger spool sizes on the Daiwa Regal but I love the reels.
