I've been guilty of posting pics of big fish on sites and suddenly the secret spot isn't a secret. One time I posted pics of some hybrid stripers I had caught and one guy sent me a pm on the site because he recognized the spot where I was fishing, turned out it was "his" secret spot and he was pretty irate because he went there a couple days later and it was loaded with fisherman and he couldn't fish. Since then I'm more careful about what I show in my photos and take more selfies with the fish I catch because taking my mugshot with a fish won't reveal any secret spots.

    What price for glory? lol
Nice thing about places like Florida is that there are lots of places to fish.
But especially in the winter, you just have to write some of them off your list.
When you have famous people, and wanna be famous people posting regularly about fishing spots, it stands to reason they will be very crowded, especially in the winter months.
Fortunately, most of the visitors are bass fishermen, and they arent really interested in panfish.
Even many of the locals are bass fishermen.
They come, they fish a few hours and they leave.
Chances are you will never see them again, including the locals.

I never use social media except here and a couple other fishing forums. Any pics I get only go to my fishing friends/partners. I even hide my fish I have on the line if a boat comes by. I would rather lose fish than let some idiot see me catching some good'uns. Learned this a long time ago.

I don't have a problem revealing the lake and the depth I am fishing. My local lake is 22,000 acres so that information is going to going to reveal my spot. I will admit I have seen guys post they are fishing an area and I have gone to google maps to see how to access the area.

Me and my bud shares locations. It's good when we can help each other. I'm not too keen on giving out locations over the 'net though.

Only places I actively hide the location of are the ones shared with me and the person asked me to keep it secret. I run into very few dock shooters out fishing. Most folks think I am fishing under docks for bass.

I've been known to do this as well.
