I hate the new cans and ordered the replacement spouts . A fire chief at local fire dept told me the same stuff . He was checking all the gas for their small engines a few years back .

I use the Mercury Fuel Treatment. It is supposed to treat for ethanol. I buy 100% gas but you get what you get

I had a small Mercury outboard (20 hpr) that was always giving me trouble . Finally took to the shop and was told that ethanol had eaten up the diaphragm in the carburetor . I replied that could not be so as I had bought the motor new and have never put ethanol gas in the motor . Both mechanics broke out laughing . I was told that most issues they turn in on warranty are gas related issues but were listed as something else . Another words the dealer lies to help his customers to a degree . Actually he is helping himself by listing not needed parts under warranty so he stockpiles inventory to be used later free . "Buyer beware ".
Even Jesus had a fish story ! Actually five .

I am sure there are unscrupulous gas stations as well

Luckily I was made aware of this years ago from a guy that owns a gas station that sells non ethanol gas from a dedicated tank with separate lines. Not only does the hose have what was in it from the previous taker but also some stations have a gate valve at the holding tank so you get what’s in the line all the way back to that point of transfer . A lot of folks don’t think ethanol gas is bad but I have seen the jelly like gum that it produces after is sits for a while so I’m not taking chances neither am I adding fuel stabilizer/ fuel conditioners ( I personally think that’s another gimmick) and I sure ant going to pay $18-$30 for the 1 gal supposedly pure stuff! Been doing lawn care for over 10 years with No carb/ fuel problems in my small engines and boat motors so 100% non ethanol for me I usually keep at least 5 gallons extra on hand just to make sure I don’t have to stop and put in the bad stuff !!
    Too blessed to be stressed!
