Bob, that lizard was just over 5’ or so, but his bigger cousin that also lives back there is twice that size. Ive never had one be aggressive towards me, and have had some close up experiences. When they’re mating is when they rumble in the smaller waters sometimes and it’s awesome to hear. There’s something on YouTube about gator rain or something like that and it shows the water on their back jumping up and down while they rumble, pretty cool. I’ve water ski’d the river and fallen with one in sight and they never even went underwater. They’re lazy and want easy food. Most of the bad experiences come from people going where they shouldn’t , or getting too close and pressuring them. Now they’ll eat a dog in a heartbeat, that’s food. A small child would be the same thing. My wife says they have no soul and I don’t disagree with her. I know they’re there and respect their area but I’m not apprehensive about them.
