I know for me fishing and quiet are my therapy, but I also believe if getting out for some good quality time with family and friends for a day on the water with some tv time included is awesome! Do what you like life is short and it’s your time that your using how you so chose. Be blessed!

Any day I'm fishing is a good day, regardless of what I catch.

I have Active Captain on iPhone and IPad.
Transfer downloads from phone to update the Garmin.
I have recorded some fishing trips and then screen mirroring to big screen in the house.
Works fine.
I fish alone so no need to have a bigger monitor than 12 inch up front where I am.

Aaahhh... so it does work. Do you notice any lag?
If there is no lag or it's not too bad, I can get the kids to bring their iPad and connect to the Livescope. That way, they won't be fishing on top of me like the other day, where everyone wanted to watch their lures on the screen.
Thanks for that info!
My next one will be the 16 inch screen.

The lag is not bad.
Not sure if you can keep up with your jig with it because I haven’t really tried.
Post is long and forgot what unit you are running.

I just downloaded Active Captain on my phone to update for setting up my Livescope. My first time using livescope and AC, and I'm pretty excited about it.
Now to set it up on an iPad. This should be pretty cool. Something interesting to look forward to.
I have no problem with this philosophy as long as you respect the people around you who are using their time. Too many want to do whatever they want and don't care about how it impacts the other people around them.
I personally never understood buying boats to raft up in a cove with other boats and play loud music while getting drunk when you could be fishing. But it is their money and their life. I am a follower of MYOB.
And I so want a fish finder with a hdmi output jack. I haven't had much luck with my efforts to use ActiveCaptain. Guess I need to search through YouTube videos again.![]()

YouTube is how I learned. I think it was the Garmin Guru, as others mentioned, but here is how I've done it, from memory:
1. Download the app to your phone or tablet from the Play Store or wherever.
2. Turn on your Garmin, and go to the Menu and turn on the WIFI
3. Turn WIFI on your phone or tablet and search for GARMIN and connect to it.
4. Turn on Active Captain, and it will find your unit and ask, "Are you the owner?" Select YES, and it will connect.
5. It will tell you about software updates. Do those updates first thing. You can do map updates later.
6. After the software update process, it will restart, and now everything should work great.
7. To see your unit's screen, I think you click on "Helm" and you are in. It's pretty cool.
I may have missed something, but that is basically how it's done. I've only used it once, but plan to use next time I'm out. Will be very interesting to see if there is any lag.
This is probably old news to some, but I hope this helps.
