    Default Garmin Customer Service

Gonna brag on Garmin a bit! Had Livescope almost 3 years and no problems. Last week a problem started with pitch angle on the bottom. Contacted Garmin for recommendation since my warranty is out 9 months. Just emailed my question. While waiting on a reply I investigated and found a broken pin on the back of my Chartplotter where it snaps in the cradle. Send another email to tell them I may have found the problem. Got a reply they were sending me a new transducer at no charge. I ask about getting the Chartplotter repaired and they offered me an out of warranty exchange for $368. They even agreed to send me a new cradle at no cost!! I basically got a new $3200 system for $368. They gave me 2 options. Send my stuff and when received they would ship replacement. I opted for option 2 I put up a deposit of $680 and I can keep my unit till I receive the replacement. Once they receive it back they refund my deposit. I’ve only received service this good one other time from Steiner. They replaced my binoculars 15 years old and 5 years out of warranty with a new pair. Pretty sure both have a loyal customer for life. Oh, all this transaction was done by email and didn’t have to sit on the phone any.

A warranty like that cannot be beat, especially when it's OUT of warranty! Alot of people are buying Garmin units now. Garmin will eventually be ahead of Lowrance and Humminbird in marketshare IMO.

I like it when companies stand behind their products and support the customers. Like you said that’s how you develop customers for life.
