My buddy got the new hot dog livescope transducer. Took it out and caught a few, with two being slab daddy’s. It is a little clearer with the small jigs and minners to be sure.
Next day, replaced hubs on my trailer for the first time. At first thought I destroyed the grease seal, but alas after a YouTube video I was back in business.
Decided to go down to Brazos River in north end of Whitney, test em out. It was shallow over there!! Glad I was in the trusty Minnow, which is a riveted 14 ft jon boat with a 9.9 Merc.
They were tough to find on the scope in the shallow conditions. Water clarity was that of mud LOL..okay maybe not that bad.
Indeed they were tough to catch, but I did manage 3 keepers. With two having those linebacker shoulders y’all. Only way to get em was timber and I must’ve lost a dozen jigs.
All worth it for a good time. Saw some unique caves from the river. Makes you think about how long ago the water was up there! The meat on these seemed fresh and when they got the blade the texture was good and firm. Looking forward to having some crappie from a new hole and feeling accomplished and tired from a weekend well spent.
God bless,
Slab Apprentice
