Isn't that part of Wheeler Wildlife refuge and if so it is illegal to carry a firearm,my cousin got caught with one under his seat in his truck at Flint creek and it cost him nearly two thousand dollars

The only place on Wheeler Refuge that it is illegal to possess a fire arm that is used for personal protection is the Wheeler Refuge Office and that's because you don't need one because they are armed. Not only is it legal but it would be encouraged.

    H.R.-627 says

The Secretary of the Interior shall not promulgate or enforce any regulation that prohibits an individual from possessing a firearm including an assembled or functional firearm in any unit of the National Park System or the National Wildlife Refuge System

    As long as

    (1) the individual is not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing the firearm; and
    (2) the possession of the firearm is in compliance with the law of the State in which the unit of the National Park System or the National Wildlife Refuge System is located
