I fish around a lot of docks. I do well around the ones that have lights shining down on the water

I bought one off amazon not sure the make but when I just looked might be green blog. I know i payed about 139$ 4 years ago and is still going strong and is one of the most fished lights on my lake by other fisheman. I never fish my own dock. Scott

crappie follow bait as you well know and at night, light attracts bait , not sure if green lights do better or not , but bright light does attract baitfish for sure .
my buddy is trying to cut a trip later today short to go hit someone's "green" dock lights on another lake .
no clue what lights are best , i would tend to imagine it would be the cheapest ones for me ....just saying

Probaly should have mentioned I have 2 lights 1 on each end of doc. One side is a bo-jo with the weed eater string. While I visably see more around that light. It's actualy very cool to sit and watch the hundreds of bluegill sitting under it in summertime just waiting on a bug to hit water and the green one ( underwater ) on other end of dock. Both have had countless fish caught but the tournament guys swear they catch more on the green one. Scott

If you want to make your own, check out Fish-n-stuff on Youtube. Keith has a couple of videos about how to make them. Considerably less than pre-made. I made mine for about $45. Works great and is longer than most other ones for sale.

I bought a VERY bright LED street light and mounted it on the lake side of my dock. Being LED, it is super bright close to the dock and semi bright across the entire cove. We catch crappie under it year round. It's fun to stand and watch as the bait swims in circles and the crappie dart through feeding on them. The benefits of it being above the dock is it brings in mayflies and the crappie love to pick them up when they land on the surface. The negative is the spiders build webs to catch the mayflies too!.
Also, lighting a large area with a street light makes it easier for novice folks to catch crappie as all they need to do is cast in any lit area and reel. The crappie seem to find them!
