    Default My favorite fly

When I was stationed at Fort Hood TX, I participated in a fly swap. One day I was in my kayak on a pond, and noticed this buggy little fly in my box. I tied it on and jigged it beside the kayak admiring the action in the water. Well, a 3 lb bass took that fly right next to the boat. After I landed the bass I cut that fly off, and returned it to the box. I didn’t want to risk the only one I had.My favorite fly

    Recipe
You can tie these in any color.
Hook: Size 10-8 nymph hook. I’ve started using Mustad double kink shank popper hooks (33903 I think).
Tail: rabbit hair from a strip
Body: ice dub, Chenille Crystal chenille.
    Hackle: partridge
Eyes: any dumbbell eyes depending on how fast you want it to sink
Flash: Rainbow crystal flash folded over so it is on the top of the fly.

I’ve caught just about all of the warm water species to include carp, crappie, bream, bass, channel cats on this fly. Seems like all types of fish like a small yummy looking fly.

Those definitely look like they should catch fish.

I've done a few similar to that but on larger hooks but haven't really tried them.
Sounds like they need to get tied on and used!
    Nice work.

Easy to add rubber legs to it too. Very good all around fly/jig.

Rubber legs definitely help, and I tie them on jig hooks as well. My favorite flyName: IMG_2748.jpg
