Trout Magnets
Hey all,
Haven't been able to fish, so I was reading some forum posts to satisfy my addiction. I've noticed a lot of love for trout magnets for bluegill. I've never used then successfully, other than reusing the jig-heads with micro lures. What color trout magnets should I try out when I order my next batch of lures?

I’ve used nothing but Bison color for bluegill since about 2010. Here is a video of the TM in action. My channel is full of bluegill videos and Bison is used 99 percent of the time. I will usually only have 2 colors with me…..Bison and Sow Bug.

On really bright days, I've had great luck getting bluegill and spotted bass on Purple Redemption. I took Alphahawk's advice on many points, and found that he is on the money about Bison color and pretty much everything else I've tried on his recommendation.

For what AH said. Another real good one fo4 me is Bulldog. Very effective on my stream. It may remind pans of a worm. Not sure but it works.

Never tried em but know many that swear by them. All I will add is that colors are a local thing and what works for me may not catch a fish on your waters. Just don’t load your box on recommendations but try new colors and see what works for you.

What are y’all doing for trout magnet storage?
Leave them in the packaging until ready to put on jig?
Throwing a handful in a utility/tackle box? Any concern of them drying out and being less effective?

I leave them in original package. Never had any issues with them drying out. I have several thousand loose Bison colored Trout Magnets I have had in a plastic shoe box for about 8 years…when I use up my package I keep in my tackle bag I refill the original package from the shoe box. Those 8 year old TM’s are as soft as the day I got them from the TM facility in Searcy.Originally Posted by TXPanfisher

Not trout magnet specific, but I throw all my plastics that aren't salted/very oily in a general tackle box, and then use a small case for some assorted micro lures that I use more regularly. No issues with them drying out yet.
Those that are really oily and salted stay in original packaging

I put the original packages in a snack or sandwich baggie. I store them in a closet which is dark. I replenish my Fanny pack from these and carry them in a sandwich bag. I have not had any problems with them drying out. I think it helps a lot to not just throw them in a tackle box.
