Thread: New To Lake Chickamagua

I usually fish a little farther North of that area. I understand there is some decent fishing at the Hwy 58 bridge . The Tennessee State page would be a good place to ask this question. Drumking has posted a report for the last 3 Sundays. He usually tells at what depth and what colors he catches them on. Welcome to Tennessee

Welcome to Tennessee. I myself am still a newbie here as far as crappie go. Hwy 58 bridge is a great place to go. Around the fishing pier close to Chester Frost ramp is good also. Not from the pier as it is closed. The docs around Chester Frost area are usually good also. Your jig colors work almost anywhere from what I have heard. If possible, add blue ice to your collection. Most of the critters seem to be holding deep this time of year. Sorry I cannot be of more help, but good luck and have fun.

I will second blue ice. It is my go to color at least 90 percent of the time. Richard Gene the fishing machine has some good videos on YouTube. He fishes 2 lakes south in the chain. A lot of what he does is relevant here on The Chick

He has a video of fishing just below the dam also. DSJ, could you imagine gene and kitchen fishing together! They would need a barge just to carry the catch! . I would definitely watch that!

I lived in Chattanooga about 20 years ago. I didn't fish much in those days but did get out a couple of times. I caught crappie right there in Harrison Bay on minnows. If you want your rod bent find out when they are releasing water from the dam, there is a phone number you can call, probably a web site now, TVA. Put in below the dam at the river walk ramp and fish the river up towards the dam.. Be ready the smallmouths will jerk the rod out of your hand. You might want to check out lake Nickajack as well.

You also may want to check out Guntersville. Lots of big crappie there.

All good info so far. I fished TN for ten years before I returned to FL. Blue thunder was a strong player in the Bobby Garland lineup. Never fished down there as I lived in Manchester. I’m also a proponent of using as light a jig as you can cast. I mostly used 1/32. Good luck and have fun.
