That would be the time I would cast a jig under a weighted float to cover some water . As hot as it has been lately no wind would be a deal breaker for me

Fishing almost everyday bring a lot of different challenges to say the least, that’s what helps you become a better angler, if you can figure it out. Those no wind days with humble you, I still caught about 20 crappie or so, but not like I usually catch.

I agree with Jack. I find shade with some cover and hopefully brush and fish with bobbers and minnows along with jigs.

In the past 40yrs or so, I could probably count all the "windless" days on one hand, and probably still have a couple of fingers left uncounted.
And even if it was dead calm when I got there, as soon as I started it would no longer be that way. I've even gone from one side of the lake/creek, where it was windy, over to the other side (where it was calm), and no sooner than I got there .... bam, the wind kicks up. And for some unknown reason, it always seems to want to blow me right into the bank or right on top of where I'm wanting to fish.

Know this for sure .... Ma Nature & the wind gods have gotten a piece of my mind on numerous occasions.

Sometimes that there glass water makes for a tougher outing , seems to me the longer a crappie can clearly look over a bait the less likely it will bite said bait .
I imagine wave action renders some of their optical abilities to be less than accurate .....maybe
