I don't own one but I'll take a stab at the question. Extremely light weight and expensive materials that are mostly hand crafted to achieve spectacular sensitivity and balance. And yeah some of it is marketing. People(me included) pay twice that for a driver(golf) that they might hit 10 or 12 times in a round of golf. But scoff at paying a higher price for something they hold an entire fishing outing. I wish I had my golf club money back. I would own several more Cashion rods. To each his own for sure.
