I've only done a hand full of times and probably never right. I'm armed with a 30' green light a headlamp and good electronics. My choices are endless on structure and contour. 2 key spots....one is a massive bridge in water from 17- 34 fow. Decent current with a creek channel. And it has a gazillion baitfish and half that in catfish. The other Is a massive tree that starts at the bank and tops out at 22 fow. This is in a small cove off the main river. And by far the most convenient. Help me get started...where? How deep for the light...is it a baitfish line thing or is ahhh just put it half the depth.. Any advice is appreciated

I would pick the bridge. Drop the light just under the surface and fish the edges of the bait that swims around the light.
