So true JD, It is so fat that I only used this on 5/8 to 1 ounce jigs with 1/0 or 2/0 hooks for toothy critters. I have never tried this for crappie jigs but I do believe chenille has it's purpose on any size jig. I was walleye chasing at Rathbun one time jigging a 5/8 'er and caught a 2#2oz crappie with this jig. I would like to know the odds of that ever happening again.

These are for salmon and steelhead. The gap seems plenty big but I will watch it for sure, thanks for the heads up!
I will try braiding them before tying, seems like the easiest way.
Gonna watch the video now.
