Nice results...although, IMHO, whole/steamed crabs (Old Bay) unquestionably have the best, unwashed flavor.Looks as though majority were males. How long did you let the traps soak? St. John's?

Had a chance to run a few crab traps this week.
9 traps produced 75 nice crabs.
A few jumbos too.
So this was our dinner tonight.
This was my first time setting traps, pulling traps, cleaning blue crab, and eating blue crab.
It will not be my last.
Amazing meal shared with some wonderful family.

The last time I ate blue crabs (a very long time ago) I got extremely sick. I'm sure the bottle of moon shine we had to go with them didn't have anything to do with it.![]()
We soaked them about 3 and half day before we got back to them.
We only had 1 female.
I thought that was odd, but being my first time I didn't say anything.
My cousin cooked them and he uses Zatarans. I like Old Bay better but I didn't cook...lol
Yes sir they were St. John's River crab. Palatka area.

I sure the Shine had nothing to do with the sickness.
It had to be something else...lol

His cooking method appeared to be boiling...very much a 180* variance from dry steamingGoogle Maryland steamed crabs if desired.
I typically drop/pull my traps on same day after fishing. Had some "instances" in my past!

Nice haul. and one nice looking cook out. Everyone has their favorite way to cook them. But no matter how you cook them, they still taste good.
What a feast!
