    Default Taylorsville 5/12/22

Got started fishing at 8:30am. Launched at Van Buren. First time for me in 30 years. Usually put in at Possum Ridge.

Shocked as to the depth of the water at Van Buren Launch. Only 8ft at the ramp and you better watch which way you go down the lake. Less than 2ft in places,'

Went past Chowning Ramp and fished the left side of the lake. I have no idea how many short fish we caught. Had to be at least 75 perhaps more. Started around 8:30 and quit at 4:00. 10 fish that would measure. Nothing much over 10 inches. All but 2 had eggs. Spider Rigging with minnows. One fish caught on a jig. Water at ramp was muddy but cleared up the further we went. 20 to 30ft of water about 12 to 14ft deep is the biting zone. Surface temp was nearing 74 degrees when we quit.

That side of the side of the lake is cursed. I hear tale of a pirate with two chocolate labs that haunt the Dirty South shoreline. In all seriousness I will be below the NO SKI buoys until we have to hand the lake over to the good time Charlie’s for the year.
