I had a few minutes today, after some shopping and yard work, I made a fine booking. Something I've been thinking of doing for some time. Picked up a pack of 3/8-inch craft dowels, a small pack of sewing needles, and I had the needle nose pliers, UV glue and light.
It is really simple really. I measured the dowel and used an x-acto knife to cut, and clean the end. Then took the regular bodkin and started the hole for the needle, as close to center as you can. Then grip the needle with the pliers and push the eye end into the dowel. I went about ¹/4 inch, maybe a bit more. Then secure it in place with the UV glue all around the needle where it enters the dowel. Then set the glue with the UV light.
It took all of about 5 minutes start to finish, and I now have a small bodkin for finer work, that is a bit awkward with the larger one...
Hope this might help some out.
