    Default Tailwater report 3/15/22

The parking lot at Wolftever is jammed packed with mostly crappie fishermen I suppose and you guys know that I don’t fish for crappie during the spawn but use this time to fish tailwaters below dams for Stripers, Walleyes, White bass, and Smallmouth bass.

I’ll do this because I know that MBlue likes the toothy critter pics and reports. This wasn’t the best morning for Striper numbers although I did catch one around 10 and a big one that we weighed that was 20 lbs. Quite a tussle in the 66,000 cfs and 14 floodgates that were open plus all the turbines.

The highlight was our 3 male walleyes that hit our super flukes. We also caught 3 Drum and Dr Phil was the Drumking today with two of them. Grin. We saw the twra in their shocking boats gathering female walleyes that they shocked up.

When we decided to quit for the morning, the twra had their tanker truck on the boat ramp and the two boats were transferring the walleyes to the truck. They asked how we did and we told them that we caught male walleyes and they wanted to swap some out. They said that they desperately needed the males along with the females to continue their stocking program and we were willing to give them our fish. All for a good cause. But they gave us 4 females for our males. Good trade.

3/8 oz Shadhead jigs and I was using the last 5” lavender fluke in existence to catch all my fish today. If anyone reading this report has any Lavender flukes, I would be willing to swap something with you. You probably hate that lavender color anyway. Zoom company tells me that their inventory is way low because of covid and if and when they get stocks back up, they may make this color again. I think their color number is 364.

Nice photos and write up. Suggestion for a future story. Stop by Burger King and get a paper crown. Then snap a photo of the drum king for the day. We call them goo down here and my friend and I used to wear the crown home if we were the goo king for that day.

    NICE!!!!

Green Jeans say what their big females would go? After all these years, there have GOT to be 8-10lb'rs in the lake. ABSOLUTELY LOVE that this fishery was reintroduced and seems to be sustaining

I STILL have not made it to WB this winter

I don't recall seeing that color, LAVENDER??

Zoom bait company told me in an email message that Lavender color was made for a special distributor and that their inventory was low because of covid. Maybe after they get their stock back up they might make Lavender again. I sure do hope so. I lost the last 5” one that I had last trip. It was worn out.
