    Default Spring Break 2022 Finale

The last two days of my Spring Break have been drastically different from the first two. The week started with bank fishing and a few Largemouth Smallmouth and Spotted Bass receiving their lip piercings and photographs, a freaky Goldfish catch, and even the White Bass took time out to play a little. Wednesday was rainy and cold so shopping and a meal over in the Sevierville Pigeon Forge Gatlinburg area placated the wife and gave me a chance to get the boat prepped for some end of the week fishing. Thursday morning, dead cranking battery, it has been a little draggy and just wouldn’t take or hold a charge overnight, so time for a new one. I was hoping to receive the remote for my new trolling motor in the mail on Thursday, but no dice.

This new brushless technology is awesome, and Friday was looking perfect for a trial run. Let’s go try this thing out and maybe catch a Crappie in the process.

It didn’t take long to get my first victim, a fat Black fish couldn’t resist the Blue Chrome BGBS on a Daiwa Gekajibin glow jighead. I can’t say enough about this Varivas Avani Saltwater Finesse PE line, touted as the world’s smallest diameter braid, it is an excellent open water cast and retrieve line.

I stuck several keepers and non keepers with this set up, the 7.6 ABU let me know real quick of any interested parties.

Even the Crappie with the Racing Stripes were digging it, such a cool fish and this one had some shoulders on him. I closed the day out on a super nice White Bass, gave me all I wanted on the long stick, and after a quick pic it was time to head home.

A decent haul for my efforts.

And of course as soon as I got home the wife said “Your Remote came in the Mail today.” Oh well another story for another day. Thanks to Russell Marine for all the help and questions answered, a fine board sponsor. After everything was said and done for the week, this weather forecast for the weekend made me frown.

That’s some fine looking equipment. Glad you got out and caught you some more fish. How’s the spotlock work on the new unit?

Used spot lock today a couple times, great to keep the boat off the brush/fish when you have some wind involved and trying to do something away from the trolling motor.

I'm glad you were able to get out and have a nice day of fishing before the snow came.

You got in under the wire! Thanks for sharing. Snowing here today. Got some of the Glow heads on the way. Can't wait to put them to use.

In open water they are deadly, you feel the tick or thump and the fish are automatically hooked…..get one near a tree limb and unfortunately the same results
