Default Broke my two favorite rods today

My 5’4” St Croix Panfish and 5’4” Trout Series rod were in the back of my old 2003 Tacoma Xtracab cradled with reels in a plastic basket .
I was coming home fro a short 45 minute fishing trip when a SUV in the right turning lane decided he wanted my lane .
Took out a Prius in the lane to my left , and spun me into the guardrail.
I’m ok , although I’m sure I’ll be sore in the morning but the old truck will most likely be totaled .
The wrecker driver pulled the front end ways from the tires enough to enable me to slowly drive home the four miles to the house .
I’m going to try to get the insurance to cover my St Croix rods .

Oh man hate to hear that. Glad you are OK, sore I bet you will be in the morning and the next couple days. Like GA Tech dude said in the broken Iprimi rod thread, my rods ride in the cab….in a case at that for most trips.

Man, it is in the air. Another person on here fell and broke one of his favorite rods. They say it comes in three's, I'm not touching anything until I see another broken rod post.

In all seriousness, Very glad you are not hurt and very sorry to hear about your truck.

Yep, had that Tacoma for 19 years . Lot of good fishing trip memories using that truck .
I’m going to miss it .
I actually thought it would be my last vehicle . Now , I hope not .
It’ll probably take me a couple hours to remove all of the fishing tackle and shooting supplies I kept in that truck .
I had three take down UL spinning rods , and two flyrods in the xrtracab part of the cab . Along with a few reels and several tackle bags . All of it survived.
Everything that was in the bed was a scrambled mess up against the back of the cab . Shooting rests , hammers , target stands , stools , all kind of outdoor stuff .

Oh man, I’m real sorry to hear that @Gillchaser. Glad you were able to walk/drive away in one piece. I’m sure you’ll be pretty sore for the next few days…I feel it more today than when I fell on Tuesday. Good luck finding a new truck, that mig(t turn out to be the biggest hassle.

PS please be sure to see your doctor and get checked out as a precaution.

Hate to hear of the accident but glad you're OK. As stated finding a truck might be a challenge nowadays. Hopefully insurance covers the rods as well. Good luck with it.
