    Default Not much to report…

Hi all, been a while. Happy 2022! I’ve been out only twice since Thanksgiving and both days got skunked. Of course I knew getting any sunfish…green or bluegills to bite in this fridget cold winter months not gonna be easy. Today is no different! Came armed with Troutmagnets, small hairy jigs, and my favorite for anything that bites, flies. A trout gent next to me reeled in his limit of 3 in about an hour, with garlic smelling Powerbait. Now that’s an idea…

Trouts out to play while sunnies sleeping. Until next time…tight line!

Better luck next time. Looks like trout will be the target. The TMs should work well.

I’d like to go trout fishing again , it’s been awhile. but from where I live , it’s over a two hour drive to the streams .
Now that I’ve joined the 70’s group, it’s gotten harder to find someone willing to ride with me that far .
Good luck on your next trip !

That's so cool. I've never seen how they did that. Now yall got me wanting to go after some cold water gills. It makes for a great cold sunny day.

Gillchaser, I heard you. I was originally an avid salty species chaser out of bay area beaches, inlets, and marinas until i moved to Las Vegas. I have made the 6-hour trek to Utah mountains for them bueatiful brook trouts with its spring coloration a couple of times and the drive was brutal and exhilarating at the same time. FYI the Utah mountain is to be seen at least once in a lifetime....it's that magical looking during fall and winter!

Hi CatchNgrease, just to be clear those being released were rainbow trouts! Gills and green sunfish are self sustaining in this 11 acre pond. Thanks for chiming in!

Up until about 6-7 years ago , my brother and I used to make a coastal trip at least once a year to fish for sea trout, redfish , and flounder.
Can’t handle the 6 hour drive anymore nor can we handle being out in the sun for 6-8 hours .
I miss those days , great memories.
