    Who as it Rooster Tail or Mepps that used to run the adds in the back of outdoor magazines offering to buy squirrel tails to produce their spinners

    Those are going to work fine for you. Something you can try while you’re at the vise is downsizing them for shellcracker and bluegill. I use just a little hair and trim it so the whole thing is maybe an inch and a quarter or half. Olive micro chenille and yellow and black get lots of play time for me.

    Something like these. Both red and gray squirrel in there and they’re on a #8 hook. And yes, the crappie like em too. Especially the yellows.

    One other thing I found, longer isn’t always better. Notice that some of mine short, the bluegill here like em better for some reason.
