I knew water clarity was the difference. Right now Crappie coming out of one of our lakes, that's muddied up a bit from the rains, have NO coloration markings on their sides .... they flat out WHITE.![]()

My dad was a pretty big bass fisherman when I was a lad. The ones we caught in clear water had deeper, richer color, but they were faded when we fished in chocolate milk. That's the explanation I was told, but I was told a lot of things when I was a kid.
Days that start with a good sunrise just seem to go better.

My lake, the same lake these fish came out of, used to be like pea soup with algae (before hurricane Irma, I always say Irma flushed the toilet, water got tons better after Irma). But the crappie I caught back then here were completely white. I'll try to find a pic.
