Thread: Jig rehab

Some don't look terrible. I'm sure they are useable. Yep, I've gone over each one and done some prep work, dried them, put them in smaller groups and stole the dessicants from all my med bottles to cut down on the moisture. Most are actually walleye-bass sized jigs. On good stout hooks. After I work on a couple I will decide if it is worth the effort to continue. Sure appreciate all the replies. DSJ, great suggestion. My grandson may have a rock tumbler I can borrow.

Are they painted or unpainted? What type of hook finish?

Jig heads painted, most have painted eyes. Bronze hooks.

Some ground corn cob cat litter and a cap full of liquid car wax in the rock tumbler would do the job nicely

I would think tumblers would seriously round over the tips.

I fully agree. Almost any kind of cleaning action will cause some dulling. Corn cob media will certainly be the least abrasive media I can think of. It would likely be best to touch up the tip on a stone if tumbling is the cleaning mesthod used.

Get a Mr. Clean pad and cut a chunk off and rub the spots and it should pull it right off. You could brush some Sallys on the spot let dry and if you're going to tie them up they should be fine.

Heck, I would just use them as is.
