Default Where to find long shank 1/32, 1/16 sickle hook jigs

I had a comment about the 1/32 sickle hook jigs I'm using. The man said he liked the tying, but he would prefer a long shank, so he could snag a fish easier....
I never thought about it before. My only concern when I tie a jig is having too much tail which might cause a short strike.

I get it. Years ago I use to never used anything under 1/8oz and it had either a size 1 or 1/0 hook in it and my 1/4oz I used 1/0-2/0 hook. Now a days I mostly use 1/16oz and size 4 hook. If I’m encountering short strikes I down size the profile and/or add a corn nibble.

What size hooks are you looking for in those size heads?

Here are some that shows the shank length for comparison.

In the Aberdeen style hook in 1/16, I believe it is # 4 hook. In the sickle hooks, it's 1/32 with #6 but shorter shank....

I would like to see a shank length like the 1/16 ... I really don't know is they could be gotten.

For me, I'm using 1/8 but not as much as I tie 1/16, and 1/32.
Occasionally, I would like to have some 1/64... I've done as small as 1/80.....Name: 20211210_193156.jpg

Hook sizes can vary. Here are three different size 4 hooks from Mustad. All are different part numbers and all different lengths. Mustad is all I use now. Ya just have to keep looking until you find what you like.

Long shank sickle hooks don't exist, they made a short shank sickle at one time. If you want a long shank aberdeen jig hook Eagle Claw 574 might be what you are looking for. I got some off ebay years ago and they aren't a bad hook for an Eagle Claw. I tie skinny hair jigs with them.

Cheapest 574 hooks I seen were at Chuck & Debs for $5.50 per hundred starting with a size 6.

Think I got about 2000 of those in a big batch of hooks I bought on ebay, I know they're gold but I'll have to check the size.

Okay, that's good to know....except, maybe I should have said, where to get long shank Sickle hook jigs ( already made ) in 1/32 & 1/16...

These I have are in a #6 hook. I am wondering if I could get the 2 sizes in #4?
