Okeechobee or Talquin
Planning seven day trip over news years. Then 4 days in St Augustine Finding right campground has been a challenge. Taylor creek on okeechobbee seems good and Ingrams on Talquin also good
Some places don’t like my four chihuahua traveling partners and have a limit of two others don’t like the truck Campers
Which one would have better fish? I’ve never been to Talquin
I know Talquin would be cooler but it’s smaller and maybe more manageable
I have a 17 foot Lund set up for long line or spider rigging I like the long line and don’t get to do it much up north we have two rod limits a lot and the fish don’t cooperate much up here on that technique
Im coming from IL so the Talquin driver would be nicer

I've never fished Talquin ,but I have logged many hours on Okeechobee around Taylor Creek. January is a good time to jig the shallow water and the catch rates are extremely high.

Talquin is the place if you want to longline.

Both comments have valid points, only hear of guys trolling the Kissimmee River going into the big "O" & if their in the reeds, you'll have to jig them=no trolling & that travel is a long ways from your St. Augustine destination....Talquin, however, you could fish coming & going from St. Augustine during your travel, but only certain areas can be trolled= a lot of submerged timber, have to be very careful navigating the 1st few trips you fish there...many stumps broke off just under the water...good luck & post pics to whatever you decide, both hold good populations of crappie.
crappie down !
