Default Zebco 11 TL Legacy underspin

Doesn't look like I will get to throw this one back. The wife spotted it and has long before established that all underspins / trigger spins belong to her. I believe she is even laying claim to the B&M Duck Commander UL rod also. Name: 20210825_165431.jpg

She has a long fishing history with those underspins. She used one to hook a bridge one night in North Alabama. I had shown her how to swing minnows through the current and up to the bridge. There were some nice crappie holding on those pilings that would ambush bait as it went by. 2 men across the creek from us were doing the same thing. I am down the bank about 40 feet working a current seam as it goes around a big rock. I here the drag on that Zebco screaming, I look up to see here with the rod bent double. It looked like one of those Ugly Stik commercials we all remember. She is hollering for help and putting on a battle with that fish. The 2 guys across the creek are on their feet shouting advise and encouragement. As I walked behind her I said I think you hooked the bridge. As she let's some slack in the line up comes the float and it comes free from the piling. You could here those 2 men sigh when she reeled the line in. They were convinced that it was a world record crappie. She was not happy when I told her we couldn't have kept it anyway. There was no season on bridges in that county

hilarious , mine was doing that with the barbie pole combo one day and i was swimming with the little one , the rod was bent to about its limit , the reel was just smoking . tried to ignore it at first , she kept yelling come help me ......
i watched from a distance as she battled the bottom , next thing i know there are some huge blow ups in the water beside her !
i went running and thought holly mackerel batman it is actually a FISH !
we eventually landed a carp that was just a monster and to this day she still is mad at me for not coming to rescue her sooner

Jack ... I still have two Zebco Omega 171 spincast reels ... which were the first reels I used to Vertical Cast with .... decades back before I even thought about putting a name to the technique, which was taught to me by a older gentleman friend.

Antique shops mostly. Crappie fishing got me into Coleman lanterns or Coleman lanterns got me into crappie fishing. Which ever way. I occasionally look for old lanterns and find reels

Reeling in a bridge with an ultralight takes a great touch, I've tried it!

She didn't land it. Good thing we didn't. Neither one has the bridge stamp on our license
