Seeing a few older reels being used on here got me digging out some of mine and thinking about the ones long since gone. I had a spincast rod and reel combo in the 80's that was made for crappie fishing. It had a sliding bar that would once you were at depth you could slide this out and the line would be retrived over the bar. Allowing you to drop back to the same depth. It came packaged with a cassette tape by Uncle Homer. For the life of me I can't remember who made it

no old mitchells anymore at my place , but the shimano and berkley are pretty old as equipment goes at my place .
probably in the 10 to 15 years old range is my guess on them ,but that's about 14 life times for a rod and reel in my possession![]()

Was cleaning up some stuff the other day and came across a Johnson Country Mile....maybe technically antique, but not what comes to my mind as antique, but definitely older than my go-to line ups
I enjoy reading about the old stuff and bringing them back to life. I still have two Mitchell’s out in the garage I should drag out. Both need bail springs at a minimum and I would need to find a source. They sure are great old reels and in the day as a kid were the ones everyone wanted.
