I have used P-Line Fluorclear 4 lb test for about 5 years , the biggest problem is knots . best I have found is a 7 wrap clinch knot well lubed . Have landed some very large fish with it , I am sold on it.

Let me muddy the waters a little now. On a spinning reel... would co-polymer be a better choice to fight memory?

    Default Fluorocarbon line

I tried the fluoro once, on a spinning reel.
    No bueno.
Now I use it for leaders on my braid.
Can’t help on the copolymer, out of my wheel house.

I use copolymer line (Vicious Panfish 6#) and it will still maintain some coil memory, if left unused for a period. So I take it outside, tie it off to the AC frame, then walk off about 50-60ft while letting the line out ... then close the bail and pull the line fairly taught & hold it for like 10sec's, let it go slack for a few sec's & then repeat the stretching procedure. Then I lay the rod down, go cut the line loose, go back to the rod and reel the line back on thru finger/thumb pressure while the line drags thru the grass. That does 2 things : takes much of the coil memory out of the line & the twists that have occurred from previous use.
I should do that more often, since I don't get to go fishing all that often, but I do try and remember to do it before I do go & it's been a couple of weeks since the last use.

Search on YouTube- Shaw Grigsby flourocarbon knot- and he shows an easy one that holds well. Fact is that FC does require special attention to the knot.
Maybe they will bite this one……

I have probably caught 10,000 crappie on either straight fluorocarbon or braid to fluorocarbon leader from 4-12lb, mainly Seagar Red Label or Sunline Sniper. Never used anything but palomar or Uni knots and never had a knot slip. It doesn’t require anything special and is superior to mono/copolymer for a lot of applications.

I use 6 and 8# vanish and Yozuri fluro on my canepoles and tie hooks using the uniknot. I used to fish in the Gulf of Mexico mostly for Grouper, used lots of Seaguar 80# floro leaders with uniknots. There may be a better/stronger knot but I have been using the uniknot for more than 40 years so I'm used to using it. I have never used fluro as the main line on a fishing reel, just leaders.
