Default Big boys Lake Verret 3/10/21

Hit the water 6am ran straight to where I left them bitting a couple weeks ago nothing. The water was turned up looked like they had been dredging in the canal. Ran from spot to spot looking for some decent water. When I finally found some I was not the only one there. The gators had taken over the canal. There were 11 that I saw and 6 were over 10' I managed 9 keepers and few dink. It was a first for me i caught 2 sac's within 3 feet of 1 of the big boys and he never moved. Name: 20210310_082609.jpg

If you are old enough to remember Verret before Hurricane Andrew, there were very few gators there then. There were tons of snakes. It was not unusual to see 10 or more snakes on every fishing trip - every kind of snake. A lot of gators came over the levee in and after Andrew. They ate the snakes and everything else. Before Andrew it was not unusual to catch 100 bream per trip.

Very nice catch! Love the racing crappie in the 1st picture! Funny thing about gators, when you find them, a lot of times, you will find a bountiful harvest! I remember one time when I was down at Rockafeller cast netting shrimp, the particular weir I was at had about 10 gators around it, well I caught my limit of shrimp pretty quick. Also caught about a 5' gator in the net that I did NOT want to catch! That was some huge gators around where you are fishing though! Thanks for sharing.
