That is not necessarily true about NWA being the toughest quadrant of the state - we fish Beaver alot and you will definitely average more then 9 or 10 inch fish if you fish the right areas of the lake. Also, we fish 3 or 4 different Oklahoma lakes that consistently produce slabs. I can name you 4 or 5 Arkansas lakes well under your mentioned 150 mile drive - that are super good fisheries. In my opinion, after living in Jonesboro for 28 years the NE is the toughest quadrant in the state of Arkansas as we logged alot of miles to hunt down good fish.
