Broken Thru Hull fittings
My live well pump was not working properly while on a three day trip last week. After I got home I started to remove the pump and I bumped the live well overflow hose and noticed that the thru hull fitting moved. It was about completely broken it discharges under water. I am glad that the pump gave me a problem because if the fitting had completely broken it would have flooded the boat. We all need to check theses fitting on a regular basic. I did go ahead and replace both hull fitting that are under water. There was not a problem with the pump it was the fill-drain valve.

I have replaced them with what I could find at Academy for a quick fix. I am going to find some brass ones but due to the COVID there seams to be a shortage of marine parts in this area.

In an aluminum boat, you want bronze, not brass. Brass is terribly reactive with aluminum.

It is fiberglass, but thanks for the info. I checked and the brass or bronze is on the expensive side but I think they will be worth it.
