Cabin Creek Baits in Nicholasville, KY has been making them for decades. I remember using them back when I was about FIFTY years younger than I am today. Probably still got a few of them tucked away in my tackle somewhere. Around here they're used for bedding Bluegill & Catfish (w/waxworm), Bass, Hybrid Stripers (behind a "plunker") in the "jumps", and of course for Crappie (plain, or tipped with a variety of live or artificial baits).
One of my favorite pre-post spawn dock shooting jigs. White head, red eye, red thread, chartreuse hackle
Thank you for the kind words Skeet!! Making me blush....
Thanks for y'all's help. I picked up a pretty good lead on here. Nice looking ties fellas. Makes me jealous. I have a vice and I have tied. Drum won't even touch em

I know a guy in his 80's in Deland Florida that swore by them, with his age he gave up his boat this year and gave me his last 2, said they didnt make them any more but the Florida Specks loved them. I didnt get to use them this winter but did do well with some hand tied hair jigs I get form a guy in Louisiana.
