Default Call it quits night edition

About 50 tonight, so I headed out at 9:00 after the kids went to bed. Got a quick hit, so I was optimistic.

I kept chasing an alleged dink that would slowly drag my bobber across the pond, and eventually abandoned him. Sometimes it is about the chase, but time was of the essence.

An hour later I got another hit, right as I was ready for bed. I realized I’d found a Name: IMG_2279.jpg

About to go to bed at 11:00, with five tiny fish on the record books. It’s December, you won’t hear me complaining.

Went back out last night, and pulled in seven little guys. Beautiful night, I think it got into the 70s during the day. Some pretty bad weather coming this weekend.

They seemed smaller than usual again, but what a great time. The bite was a little quicker, although I will tell you that they certainly “played” with the bait quite a bit before sinking the bobber. I had one gut hook, but the trout magnet jig hook really does seem the perfect size for this kind of fishing. I’ve lost track of my no gut hook streak since I started using them

That means the bobber's too big. Fish don't "play". They're trying to inhale the bait, but the float is too buoyant.

I was afraid of that. I use a lighted one at night. I went to a smaller one, but for these tiny fish it is probably still too big. I can use a thill w/ a glow stick, but I hate "wasting" a glow stick for such a short time.

I suggest a Thill Stealth in the smallest (1/16) size and painting the tip with glow-in-the-dark paint. Add enough weight so you can barely see the tip -- no more than 1/4".

Mini Shy Bite is a more sensitive option. (Attach at bottom only.)
