My uncle uses these exclusively for vertical jigging in treetops. He can reel the jig to the end of pole the. Extend the rod threw branches and whatnot and drop the jig down. He’s been doing this for decades

Funny how that works sometimes. Never seems to fail i get something new in and get it rigged up, it always seems to be no work the next day. Don't worry your secrets safe with me as long as you don't go telling my wife the secret. LolSent from my SM-G960U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app

Damion Kidd, sorry for late reply. I have one of these as my wife’s Dad fished with these and he bought me one for Christmas shortly after we got married. I continue to fish with it. However the pole mine is attached to is heavy compared to the poles of today. It’s a 12 footer.
I continue to use mine for spider rigs so I don’t have to hold it all day. It was keen back in the day. I also use it for jigging for large bass on creeks in log jams as the pole it’s on is very stiff for the most part. And I use it for cat fishing as it has enough backbone to handle 2 to 10 pounders. He taught me years ago a trick for lining the rod. They are a few tricks to lining it with and without the small metal wire that comes with it, in which I still own. Good luck and as with all older things they continue to have good uses.![]()
My pole is a little lighter than that. I finally got the line through. But I can’t keep the line from like back lashing. I mean just trying to let it out. After I got the line through I put the jig head on and went to let the line out and it knotted all up. I broke the line trying to get it out and haven’t fooled with it sense. Lol. But I’m gonna try it again.

No issues with back lashing. However on that rod I never use less than 12lb. test. Believe it or not it seems the crappie don’t mind it either. Can’t say that makes a big difference especially fishing in mud stained river water.

I fished these poles for years! They are a hassle to reline if you break the line inside the pole. I will say most of the time the line breaks near your jig. The ones I used were blue in color with a cork handle above the reel. They are made of fiberglass and very sensitive. I have caught thousands of crappie with them.
